TomTom - One XL

The TomTom One XL carries forward the tradition of the TomTom One series with very user-friendly features, affordability and solid performance. In addition, it comes with a bigger 4.3-inch touch screen that makes it much easier to view and interact with. Add to this, an integrated Bluetooth functionality and you have the very latest in GPS devices.

Design Features

TomTom One XL has the same stylish design as previous models except for the larger touch screen. This offers great advantages to the user. Not only are the images much clearer, the text too is sharper. All this makes it much easier to view the display screen in different light conditions, including very bright sunlight. However, it is important to note that despite the large screen, the device itself is still highly portable being very light and compact in size. The model design is simple yet sleek with just one button for switching the power on/off on the top and the rest of the interaction is through the touch screen. It is also very easy to install the TomTom One XL inside the car with a simple and secure mount.

Performance Features

The TomTom One XL comes preloaded with maps of the United States and Canada, with over five million Points of Interest, which cover a very large variety of places like hotels and restaurants, ATMs and gas stations. They also cover more specialized places of interest like museums, concert halls and beaches. If you would like maps of other regions say like Europe, you can buy optional SD cards that are preloaded with these maps.

You can use the TomTom One XL in many different ways to let it guide you to your destination. You can simply enter the particular street address you need to go to or a point of interest or just an intersection. You can also make your selection from a list of favorite places or places that you have recently visited.

Once you let the device know your destination, it will come up with a set of directions based on your preferences, the fastest time or the least distance, through routes which go via certain highways and which do not go via others. You can view this set of directions as a list of text-guided directions, going through each one of them turn-by-turn or you could just see the determined route on a map, either in a two-dimensional or three-dimensional view. You also have the choice of viewing a running demo of the particular trip before you start. An added advantage is the voice-guided directions that are provided along with the text-guided directions. The main view on the screen always displays your current position, which road you will be coming onto next, which direction to take next and other valuable pieces of information like how much distance and time still remains to reach your destination and approximate arrival times. The TomTom One XL provides these navigation tools even if you are on a bicycle or on foot.

With a facility to choose additional services like real-time information on the weather and traffic through a Bluetooth phone connection, the TomTom One XL offers true state-of-the-art GPS functionality.
