TomTom - Go 930
The TomTom models all follow one simple rule – provide excellent navigation tools. They do not worry too much about providing multimedia functionalities, especially if it is to come at a cost to the navigation tools. The TomTom GO 930 comes with some new useful features that add an extra zing to the already powerful navigation tools. These include being able to enter your destination through voice and better route planning using historical traffic data. In addition, the model also offers an advanced text-to-speech tool with Bluetooth integration. Most importantly, just like all previous TomTom models the TomTom GO 930 provides excellent, accurate directions.
Design FeaturesThe new TomTom GO 930 has a more sophisticated look to it and at about 7 ounces is still fairly lightweight. It is compact in size and easily portable. Another additional feature is the better grip provided by a soft-touch finish to the back. The display screen is a reasonable 4.3 inches but images are clear, the text looks sharp and the entire display is easily readable even when tested under various conditions including fairly cloudy to bright sunlight. Of course, the Preferences Menu will allow you to adjust the color, brightness and contrast.
The software provided with the TomTom GO 930 can be used very efficiently through a great user-friendly interface and through the touch screen. The onscreen keyboard is wide enough and can be used without too much of a problem. A special touch – you can even set it up for left-handed users. The TomTom GO 930 comes with all standard accessories like a car charger and a vehicle mount but also additional attractive accessories. These include a Bluetooth remote control as well as a desktop cradle.
Performance FeaturesThe TomTom GO 930 is packed with powerful navigation features, some already seen in the previous TomTom models and some absolutely new. The system contains preloaded maps of North America as well as Europe, covering more than 5 million points of interest (POI). The TomTom GO 930 also has a feature known as Map Share. This allows you to note the route on your map and make adjustments to it based on your experience. For example, you may want to add a new ATM as a point of interest or maybe a new street. You can make the changes in your system and then use the software provided by TomTom to upload this information and share it with other users.
If you would like the device to plan a trip for you, simply enter the particular destination in terms of the address or if you do not know the entire address, by just entering the city center or known intersection. You can also enter this information by voice. The device can calculate a route based on any number of criterion selected by you – like the shortest route or the quickest route, possibly avoiding busy highways or toll roads. You can use this device irrespective of whether you are in a car, on bicycle or on foot.
However, the latest and most attractive feature of the new TomTom Go 930 is its IQ Routes. This uses historical data pertaining to traffic on different roads and gives you an estimate of the kind of driving and trip time that may be needed if you take a particular route. Based on this, you will be able to estimate the time needed to reach your destination or even select a better route.
Thus, the TomTom GO 930 will help you reach your destination using the best possible route combinations.
