TomTom - Go 920

Considering all the top-end GPS devices with fancy navigation features in the market today, you cannot be blamed for thinking that these are the ultimate in GPS technology. Most GPS devices now offer you voice guidance so that you never take your eyes off the road and most come integrated with Bluetooth technology so that in combination with your Bluetooth cell phone you can attend to calls with your hands still on the steering wheel. Driving on roads has never been easier, you say. Never? No, says the TomTom team and comes up with the TomTom GO 920 to make driving even more simple and secure.

The new TomTom GO 920 is probably one of the first portable GPS devices to accept voice instructions to plan a route. Carrying hefty 4GB storage, it comes preloaded with complete maps of the United States, Canada and Europe. The technologically enhanced device allows for better identification of your location leading to a more continuous navigation experience. The GO 920 is also compatible with a traffic receiver if you would like to receive up-to-date traffic alerts.

Features

The most compelling feature in the new TomTom GO 920 is the ability to accept a voice prompted entry for the address of the destination. You no longer have to use the screen to enter an address - just enter the city name, street name and the address number that you would like to visit by speaking to the device and the GO 920 will automatically chart the route for you. This can be particularly helpful if you are driving and realize that you need to head to another address all together. If not for the voice prompted entry made possible by the GO 920, you would either have to stop your vehicle while you make necessary entries or more dangerously, do so while driving. Another nice touch is the Bluetooth remote that allows the driver to operate the device from anywhere in the car without having to reach over to the device to be able to operate it.

The TomTom GO 920 also carries the most complete set of maps in the entire TomTom series. Covering all of United States and Canada, the device also includes detailed maps of about 41 countries in both Central and Western Europe.

One of the most popular features of the TomTom series is the TomTom Map Share technology that is included even in the new GO 920. This technology allows for users to make changes to the maps that they are currently using on their device like changed street names, streets no longer in use and so on. Not only that they can upload these changes to the TomTom Maps database so that other users can download the latest maps for the areas of their interest. This kind of interactive technology allows all users to have the most up-to-date maps for their devices.

The TomTom GO 720 is very similar in design and features to the GO 920 but does not include maps of Europe, has a storage capacity of only 2 GB and most importantly, does not have the voice recognition ability that the GO 920 does. In comparison, the GO 920T has all the features of the GO 920 and comes integrated with a traffic receiver. So if you are looking for a truly top-end GPS device, for now look no further than the GO 920.
