TomTom - Go 730

The TomTom GO 730 comes with improved aesthetics and improved navigational features that have placed this in the top of high-end GPS devices. The TomTom navigational tools have always been popular but with two new special features of IQ routes and Advanced Lane Guidance, the TomTom GO 730 gets an extra edge over other devices. Also, this device truly starts to implement the power of the TomTom user community to improve its navigation features.

Features

The very first new feature of the TomTom GO 730 is the IQ routes. Typically, most GPS devices store the speed limits along various roads and use them to come up with a planned route for you and the estimated time it will take for you to reach the destination if you take this route. However, we all know that while we can go at the maximum speed limit along a road provided it is Sunday afternoon; you will barely be able to crawl along the same road if it is Monday morning. Recognizing this contrast, the IQ routes feature provides the historical speeds along a particular road on weekdays and weekends. This obviously helps immensely in calculating a more feasible route and in more accurate predictions of driving time.

The other striking feature of the TomTom GO 730 is the Advanced Lane Guidance feature. This device not only provides detailed turn-by-turn driving instructions but also provides assistance on which lane you should be taking while making the turn. If you have always been wary of lane selection particularly at busy or complex junctions, the TomTom GO 730 will now show you on your screen, a three-dimensional image of the area along with the number of lanes, the lane separation and more specifically the lane you should be in for the upcoming turn. Also included on the screen will be images of the various road signs shown just are they are displayed on the road. This helps you to stay aware of where exactly you are at any point in time.

Of course, the TomTom GO 730 also comes with the other standard content and software like detailed street maps of North America, Bluetooth integration that will help you make hands-free phone calls and the amazing ability for you to enter the address of destination into the device by just speaking the address. The TomTom Map Share feature allows you to make instant changes in the maps on your device if you find a street name or street direction changed. You can then use the TomTom Software to upload these changes so that other users can derive benefit from this latest information.

The new GO series are in the technologically superior range of TomTom devices and include the GO 730, GO 930 and GO 930T. Of these, the GO 730 and GO 930 can receive updates through the TomTom PLUS services provided you have a Bluetooth phone capable of accessing the Internet. Alternatively, you could go in for an FM traffic receiver to receive traffic updates which the TomTom GO 930T already comes integrated with.
