TomTom - Go 510

The TomTom GO 510 contains many world-class navigation tools but the standout feature is a new design and a striking four-inch screen that makes it much easier for the viewer to see the maps and icons on the screen. GO 510 contains up-to-date maps preloaded in the device, and the user is guided via spoken instructions. Existing features have been improved upon by using the latest technology and these places the device amongst the top portable GPS devices in the market today.

Features

To be able to plan your travel to a particular address, use the touch screen to enter the street name and number. Alternatively you can enter a mere postal code or an intersection and the GO 510 will find the shortest or quickest way of getting there depending on your preference. Not only that, once the route is determined, instructions to go from turn to turn will be told to you via voice. The GO 510 can speak instructions in more than 36 languages and you have the option of selecting from 50 voices to speak them in. You can use the device even before you start your trip. If you would like to go somewhere, check out the route suggested by TomTom, preview it and test it with the help of simulations generated by the device and you can decide if you would like to stick to this route or make any adjustments. When you are happy, just store the route and you are ready to go.

Another user favorite is the ability of the GO 510 to plan a multi-point route. If you are headed to your office but need to go the day care, laundry, mother-in-law’s all on the way, how do you decide which is the optimum route? Not problem, let GO 510 handle it for you. Just enter the necessary locations you need to visit and the device will calculate the optimum route. No hassle, no waste of time.

You will also be impressed with the improvements in the Bluetooth technology that comes in the GO 510. You can of course use the device with your Bluetooth compatible cell phone for hands-free calling. However, the reception is much improved and there is less noise and less echoes on the line. If you need to answer a call, just touch the screen to activate the call – the extra-sensitive microphone makes sure that your voice quality remains unaffected even while speaking from a distance.

To top all this, GO 510 is completely compatible with the TomTom Plus services that include real-time traffic alerts, live weather reports, custom points of interest and many more.

The TomTom GO 510 compares well with the TomTom 910 having an almost similar design but with fewer preloaded maps and travel tools in comparison, though these are available as optional plug and play softwares. The TomTom GO 510 has the same advanced navigation features as the TomTom 910 and is in no way overshadowed in performance. If you are looking for a solid, top-end GPS device, the TomTom 510 should be your choice.
