The Magellan Maestro 3210 contains improvements not only on the performance end of the Maestro series but have also in the physical design and user interface.

Maestro 3210 has a 3.5 inches touch-screen making it one of the smallest devices in the market today and is a mere 0.7 inches wide, making it one of the slimmest as well. While the Maestro series already had a large database of various points of interest, the new Maestro 3210 takes this to a new level with six million places. Most users are very impressed with the detailed information that is available in this TourBook. There are comprehensive listings for categories like hotels and restaurants, local attractions and local events. Most importantly, the TourBook contains ratings for many of these places with accurate reviews and helpful information like hours of operation and cuisine type.

In addition, the Maestro 3210 has other strong features, like the new and improved SiRFstarIII chipset and GPS receiver, which can pick up even the weakest of signals. A ‘quick spell’ facility allows the device to auto-complete street names and cities as you type it in thereby avoiding typing errors and an interesting auto-dimmer which is helpful while driving at night.

While the Maestro 3210 continues to include all the standard navigation features, a very useful function called the SmartDetour helps you to make adjustments even after the device has planned a route for you. If you are in a position where there is traffic trouble because of road repairs 5 miles up the road, you can request the device to avoid the next 5 miles and plan a new route. Else you may request the device to exclude an entire street or part of the route it has chosen and the device will come up with a route according to these preferences. Another user-friendly feature is the route recalculation function. Despite the directions given to you, you may miss a really hard to find turn. Else you may be concentrating so much on your driving that you did not notice the turn at all. No problem. The device will identify that you have left the route calculated for you and automatically recalculate an alternative route for you to take. In fact, at times you may not even notice the recalculation effect, as all it takes are a few seconds for the device to perform this function.
